Nuclear Regulatory Knowledge Database

Answering the industry’s call for licensing and compliance support, Curtiss-Wright has built our Nuclear Regulatory Services program, providing an exhaustive library of information paired with 24-hour personalized support and training. The Nuclear Regulatory Services team provides extensive datasets and document collections, staff expertise, and highly praised publications to improve user’s overall regulatory margin and improve staff proficiency in complex nuclear regulatory processes. Our service has been utilized by many users to answer licensing basis questions, train staff, and prepare reports, resulting in resource savings, reduced costly NRC inspection findings and potential shutdown prevention.

The Nuclear Regulatory Service has one of the most extensive libraries of nuclear data in the world, and is the only organization that has full-text PDFs of the 3.8-million domestic nuclear power docketed correspondence records. Including documents and datasets dating back to the 1940s, the Nuclear Regulatory Service’s comprehensive search tools use a straightforward point and click interface to access information ranging from plant specific events, conditions and issues; to license history, exemptions, and amendments; to NRC inspections, findings, and enforcement discretions. The curated databases help build quality user submittals, resulting in reduced NRC reviews and maintaining or improving their regulatory standing.

Curtiss-Wright maintains a Washington presence to stay on top of nuclear issues as they develop, with two full-time staff members in Washington, D.C. dedicated to attending regulatory meetings. The insights attained from these meetings feed directly into the Nuclear Regulatory Service’s collection of publications that were developed specifically to meet the nuclear industry’s needs – released both on a daily basis in a short summary of key points, and in the longer, more insightful weekly LISTEN publication, the Nuclear Regulatory Service keeps users abreast with ever-evolving regulatory changes. Feature stories are prepared by staff to track the hot issues, including items discussed at NRC regulatory meetings, the issue’s potential resolution path, and upcoming milestones.

With over 250 years of cumulative experience, Curtiss-Wright’s Nuclear Regulatory Service’s staff is one of the most advanced in the industry – It includes degreed engineers, former licensing supervisors, SRO certified management, and regulatory experts. The experienced instructors provide case studies, best practices, and insights on regulatory challenges to help users better navigate through the changing environment and improve their regulatory standing by applying lessons learned, taking the knowledge management burden off user’s training staff. The experts share their knowledge and experience through our professional development seminars that are offered twice yearly, offer specialized training that can be performed onsite and adapted to additional topics of interest, and can perform informal training webinars and teleconferences to walk users through specific regulatory processes or issues.
